Since 2006, the Foundation has awarded over $7.6M in college scholarships to Middle Tennessee students in pursuit of a business degree. These students are attending public and private colleges and universities throughout the United States. The fall of 2015 marked the addition of a scholarship for STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). To date, over 400 students have been awarded a scholarship and they represent 134 high schools and 34 counties across middle Tennessee.
Scarlett Family Foundation Scholarships are open to high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who will graduate or have graduated from a public, independent or homeschool association high school in 40 Middle Tennessee counties. Also eligible are individuals who have obtained a GED prior to June 1, 2018. View eligible counties.
Qualified applicants must meet all the following criteria:

1. Graduated high school (or GED) from one of the eligible counties.
2. Demonstrate financial need via 1040 tax return.
3. GPA of 2.5 or higher.
4. Pursuing a business or STEM approved degree at a 4 year, non-profit college or university.
5. Planning to enroll full-time in the fall of 2018.

Determining financial need
The committee considers the AGI (adjusted gross income), EFC (estimated family contribution) and the cost of tuition, books and fees.

Each year, the Foundation will award scholarships in varying amounts based on financial need, that is directly tied to the cost of the college the student attends. The minimum scholarship award is $2,500 per academic year. The maximum award is $15,000 per academic year. The scholarship is applied to tuition, books and fees. Scholarships are renewable awards for up to 4 years or until the recipient completes their undergraduate degree, whichever comes first.

Winner Selection
An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the winners. The use of this committee is designed to ensure the impartiality and confidentiality of the selection process. All decisions are final. In evaluating the applicants, the committee will consider the applicants' financial need, academic records, community service, extracurricular activities, and essay content.
